Bailey Liipfert to make Presentation
Bailey Liipfert has been invited by the North Carolina Bar Association to present at their 16th Annual Elder Law Symposium for the Elder Law Section in February 23 – 24, 2012 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. This Symposium has been expanded to allow for a more in-depth discussion of topics that are important in an Elder Law Practice. Bailey Liipfert will be speaking on the topic of Waiver Programs and Rebalancing Institutional Care versus Home Care.

Smitherman to make Presentation
Rebecca Smitherman has been invited by the North Carolina Bar Association to present at their Annual Meeting for the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section in July 26 – 28, 2012 at Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. The Estate Planning & Fiduciary Law Section offers members the opportunity to network not only with other estate planning attorneys, but also other professionals who are involved in the estate planning process such as bankers, financial institutions, Clerks of Court and CPAs and offers continuing legal education to its members to further educate them on estate planning and fiduciary practice areas.

Fort Bragg invites Bailey Liipfert for encore presentation
Bailey Liipfert has been invited back to Fort Bragg for a repeat presentation on the topic of Special Needs Trust. He will be addressing the Legal Assistants Section of JAG. Liipfert previously presented this to a group of military families who had children with special needs.

Annual Book Sale for the Shepherd’s Center
The Shepherd’s Center of Winston-Salem will be holding its Annual Used Book Sale April 28 -30, 2011. As in the past, the event will be held at the Education Building of the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. Stephens to make presentation
Brent Stephens has been invited to make a presentation at the Western Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association of NC Caregivers Educational Conference in May 2011. The conference, which focuses on family, caregivers and professionals dealing with Alzheimer’s disease, will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Stephens’ topic will cover the importance of Health Care documents as part of financial planning, and will walk through the guardianship process. Craige Brawley will also be participating as exhibitors during the conference. Professional Aging Conference a Success
The Piedmont Triad Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging held their annual conference entitled Aging in the Piedmont Triad: Forecasting the Future. Craige Brawley was on hand as a participating vendor, providing handouts and material to the attendees. Bailey Liipfert Guest Speaker at Ft. Bragg Conference
The North Carolina State Bar standing committee on Legal Assistance (NC LAMP) will hold a two-day CLE conference at the Airborne Museum at Ft. Bragg, NC. Bailey Liipfert will be one of the instructors covering the Estate Planning session. The conference is open to military officers, civilians who provide legal assistance services to service members and their dependents, as well as unaffiliated attorneys across NC. Liipfert will be joined by a host of other attorneys and military personnel, including Resident Superior Court Judge Joseph Crosswhite of Iredell County. This distinguished panel of speakers will be covering topics from Estate Planning to Landlord Tenant Issues to Legal Assistance in the Combat Zone.

Smith presents at Brighton Gardens

Healthy Living Workshop continues
Our own Rhonda Nelson continues to be a lay leader with the Northwest Piedmont Council of Government Area Agency on Aging seminars.  Nelson is a Geriatric Care Manager for Craige Brawley Liipfert & Walker LLP and has been assisting in the “Living a Healthy Life with a Chronic Condition” series. She will participate in upcoming events to be announced during the year.

Liipfert presents to SNT parents
Bailey Liipfert recently was joined by Dave Baumann, of the Principal Financial Group, for a presentation on Special Needs Trust Planning. Mr. Liipfert and Mr. Baumann covered the legal and financial issues affecting parents of children with disabilities, as well as the process of transitioning the child from school to everyday life.
