North Carolina’s Oldest Law Firm

Craige Brawley Liipfert & Walker LLP was founded in 1832 and is North Carolina’s oldest law firm. Begun in Salisbury by four-term U.S. Rep. Burton Craige, our firm initially specialized in representing railroads in the years prior to the Civil War. We opened a second office in Winston-Salem in 1917 and since 1959 have been housed exclusively in Winston-Salem.

Today, while we still represent railroads, that accounts for just a fraction of our work. We are a full-service law firm, handling a broad spectrum of legal matters, including Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Probate Matters, Trust Administration, Guardianship Administration, Special Needs Trusts, Elder Law and Long-Term Care Planning, Corporate Law, Civil Litigation, Real Estate.

With attorneys who are experienced and knowledgeable in every one of these fields, we offer personalized attention to each and every client, no matter what the legal issue at hand. We strive to provide the highest-quality legal advice available, combining superior talent with a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Client by client, we have built a reputation over nearly two centuries for top-quality work, an optimistic attitude, and the most professional standards for service and ethics.

Year in and year out, we at Craige Brawley Liipfert & Walker LLP continue to serve the finest clients and attract the most outstanding lawyers. This allows us to provide the best legal counsel possible.
